Project engineering, DFM and new product introduction

Engineering capacity without a hire. For established manufacturers that means owning a project end to end; for early-stage ventures it means turning a concept into something that can actually be produced at volume.

Projects stall for ordinary reasons: the one engineer who could own it is already committed, the drawings are ninety per cent done, the shop has questions nobody has time to answer. ENQUIPA takes the whole thing — scope, vendors, drawings, schedule, run-off — and hands it back finished.

Project engineering and vendor management

A defined project with a named owner: requirements agreed with the people who run the process, a quoting package that shops can price without guesswork, technical clarification handled directly, first articles reviewed against the drawing, and a schedule someone is actually chasing. Your existing vendors, ours, or a mix.

Design for manufacturability review

A DFM review is not a memo saying "reduce cost." It is a marked-up model and a written list: features that cannot be machined as drawn, tolerances tighter than the process can hold, parts that can be combined, fasteners that can be standardised, finishes that add cost without adding function — each with a specific change and the reason for it. The same review covers assembly: fewer operations, fewer orientations, fewer ways to build it wrong.

New product introduction

Getting a product from something that works on a bench to something a line can build every day: process flow, fixtures and gages, work instructions, the checks that catch a defect at the station rather than at the customer, and the capital and tooling each volume step will need.

Startup and scale-up support

For early-stage ventures, the first engineering decisions set the cost of everything after. Choosing processes that suit your real volume rather than your hoped-for volume, designing for the tooling you can afford now while leaving a path to the tooling you will need later, sourcing components that will still be available in three years, and building a production roadmap that a manufacturer or an investor can read.

Functional prototyping and sourcing

Prototypes that test the thing you are unsure about: 3D printed parts in-house for form and fit within days, machined or moulded parts through partner shops when the prototype has to carry load or run a real cycle. Component sourcing covers pneumatics, actuation, sensors, controls hardware and fasteners, with real availability and lead time checked before the model is finished.

What you get

  • A named engineer accountable for the project, start to finish
  • Requirements, scope and schedule in writing
  • DFM and DFA review with a specific change list
  • Quoting packages, vendor management and first-article review
  • Prototypes, fixtures, gages and work instructions as the project needs
  • Production roadmap and scale-up plan

How engagements are priced

Fixed price against a defined scope, quoted after a scoping call. No hourly billing, and no open-ended retainers. If the scope changes, the price changes and you see it before the work happens.

Questions we get

We need an engineer but not a full-time hire.
That is this service. A defined project, owned end to end, ending when the project ends.
What does a DFM review produce?
A marked-up model plus a written change list, each item with its reason and its cost or risk.
Can you help a startup reach production?
Yes — manufacturable design, process choice for your real volume, sourcing and a staged production roadmap.
Do you manage our shops, or bring your own?
Either. Machining, fabrication and industrial additive partners are available when you need them.
